Not all COVID-19 tests are created equally.Smart testing is achieved with purpose and strategy. It's important to figure out who should get tested, and when they should get tested.
Surveillance strategy is a proactive testing measure that is great for detecting COVID-19 hotspots in schools or at work, or for peace of mind at home or for group settings.
The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test detects the virus itself. It is extremely sensitive and usually doesn't result in false-negatives or false-positives, but it is possible and there is a small margin for this. The technology helps to identify low viral loads often found in asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic carriers who are thought to be the most significant spreaders of SARS-CoV-2. With a purpose-built lab right here in Tahoe, we can return you results soon enough to make a difference.

Traditional COVID-19 testing is both expensive and incredibly slow. By testing groups of people that are already in close contact, we're able to drive down the cost and provide timely results.
How it works
When you order a group test we will collect saliva samples from between 2-5 people in your circle of closely interacting friends or family and run those samples together (your samples will not be pooled with individuals outside of your group). We won't be able to say exactly who has the SARS-CoV-2 virus in a particular group or be able to provide individual results, only a result indicating if your group is negative or positive. As part of our surveillance strategy, we recommend the consideration of additional individual diagnostic testing, especially for those who were identified in a positive group, who were recently exposed to COVID-19, or who are displaying symptoms of the virus.
